Testing Testing 123…

It’s so important to test out ideas, new props and different lighting techniques regularly outside of paid commissions. When its just for fun you can really push the boundaries outside the norm of commercial food photography. My aim is to test as often as possible, at least month during down time between projects for me it helps to keep that passion alive. Heres some images from a recent test with food stylist Robert Barker, we test often together sharing a similar style and work ethic thats mutually beneficial. You can see his portfolio here.

We had some ingredients leftover from a recent studio shoot they’re wasn’t a theme we instead explored use of props, colour and lighting styles to top up the portfolio with new content. We have the french classic Moules Frites, a prawn tagliatelle pasta and a fish curry on the beautiful blue David Mellor plates.

Really must remind myself to grab more behind the scene shots on the iPhone, it’s easy to get consumed and excited by the creative process
