Black Forest Gateau

It’s incredibly important to set aside some studio time for test shoots to create food photography away from the constraints from commercial briefs.

A Grain regular, Rob Barker had the idea for a super indulgent Black Forest Gateau. Typically images of baking tend to be light and airy with pastel colours and very pretty. We opted for the opposite here with moody lighting and dark props to create a sense of drama. We’re really happy with the outcome and it certainly tasted just as indulgent as it looked.
